Every year, Craigies Farm grows tens of thousands of pumpkins, which are ripe for picking just a stone’s throw from Edinburgh! These pumpkins come in all shapes, sizes, and even colours – who knew pumpkins can be blue!?

We are also excited to welcome another season of Pick-your-own apples at Craigies. There is no pairing more perfectly fit for autumn than Craigies apples and pumpkins!

Craigies special pick your own voucher gives families access to the perfect autumnal day out! Read on to discover why Craigies Farm is the best pumpkin picking destination near Edinburgh!

Alongside picking their own pumpkins and apples, visitors can enjoy delicious home baking, hearty breakfasts and lunches in our refurbed Craigies café, take seasonal selfies galore, see the farm animals (including a baby Highland coo!) and enjoy a play session at Little Farmers adventure play barn.

As usual, visitors can wander around the fields and see the range of animals that call Craigies home – including pygmy goats, Highland Cows, donkeys, Shetland ponies, sheep and chickens.

Craigies is so much more than just a farm – it is a farm-to-table destination, offering the finest in farm-fresh food and drink at our newly refurbished Cafe! With a flowing design, bespoke interior elements and a new menu boasting delectable breakfast and lunchtime treats, our cafe is a one-stop shop for all of your autumnal goodies.

And you can’t forget the scrumptious home baking, ready to delight every little trick-or-treater this Halloween. The best part is, there is no booking required – simply come on in, make yourself at home and enjoy a taste of farm life!

  1. Make your very own sweet treat

If you were lucky enough to go home with a basket of Craigies apples, why not turn them into an apple crumble? You could also use your apples to make a batch of apple and cinnamon scones, a breakfast treat that’s sure to brighten up the dark, cold autumnal mornings. When in doubt, check out some of our top Halloween recipes for more at-home inspiration!

If you run out of at-home ideas, or you simply have too many apples, bring your apples down to Craigies for our apple juicing service! We have everything you need from bottles to a pasteurization service that will allow your juice to last for over a year unopened. Apples can be dropped off Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday anytime between 9-11 am or 2-4pm. There is no better addition to an autumnal cupboard than fresh apple juice!

  1. Entertain the kids with Pick and Play

Ensure that the entire family enjoys a day out with the help of Craigies Pick and Play voucher. With this voucher, cosy up while the little ones enjoy a 1hr 30mins of fun, playing on our fantastic Timberplay Scotland-designed play barn and equipment.

There will even be coffee/tea for the adults and hot cocoa for the little farmers. But everyone will be offered a pumpkin-shaped shortbread, of course! Then it’s out to the fields for the last half hour to find the perfect family pumpkin – we can’t think of a more ideal autumnal day!
