Craigie's Recipes

Looking for some inspiration and ideas on what to do with all of that lovely fresh local produce you've just bought from the farm?  We've pulled together some of our favourite recipes to give you some ideas...

But please, do let us know if you're a budding chef, a creative cook or you simply like spending time in the kitchen and are happy to share your recipes with us on our Facebook page. We would love to see what you are baking, making, pickling or fermenting particularly if you are using ingredients you've picked up from the farm!

Parsnip & Apple Soup

Comfort food at its best, this is sure to be a winner. An easy lunch or dinner to prepare on a cold winter’s day.

Pumpkin, Chickpea and Black Kale Curry

The combination of pumpkin and warm spices in this dish are so comforting, like a big hug, and this dish feels so nourishing which is perfect for this time of year as the days start to get a wee bit cooler and shorter. For this recipe I used a ‘Blue Prince’ pumpkin grown at Craigie’s Farm, but you can use any edible pumpkin variety, you could even substitute pumpkin for some of the beautiful squashes from Craigie’s Farm instead. If you are feeding a crowd, or want some extra to pop in the fridge for the next day, or stock up your freezer with a tasty, healthy meal for a later date, just double the recipe. It’s vegan and gluten free too!

Pumpkin Soup

An easy rich creamy soup. A lovely way to heat yourself up with after a day out in the cold. Serve with a slice of crusty bread

Celeriac, Sweet Potato, Leek & Onion Frittata

Frittatas are a great recipe to use up eggs, and for those new to celeriac will love the blended taste of this meal. Serve with salad for a beautiful dinner option. Makes 1 medium frittata.

Mushroom, Leek and Blue Cheese Pies

Pies are a great asset to any aspiring cook’s recipe book. This is a beautiful recipe with bold flavours and wonderful textures. Can be made as 6 small pies or a large pie, depending on preference and availability of pie tins. Serves 6 people.

Sunflower Bread

Make your own healthy bread and bring wonderful smells into your home. Top with wholesome sunflower seeds for a beautiful homemade loaf. Creates 12 Slices (1 Loaf).

Strawberry Salad with Poppyseed Dressing

Craigie’s fresh strawberries will give this salad so much flavour you won’t want to stop eating it! Amazing on its own or take it on a picnic for a refreshing side dish.  Serves 12 people.

Vegan Potato Salad

This potato salad is so simple, delicious and refreshing. It’s perfect to eat on the go, as a side or as the main dish. The recipe is suitable for vegans to eat as we’ve taken out the dairy elements of the salad. The maple syrup gives it a sweetness that you will love!  Serves 5 people.

Pancakes are an easy dessert to make and something that the kids can try to make alongside a responsible adult (could get very messy otherwise!). Serve with Craigie’s delicious strawberries. Serves 5 people.

This is a fabulous and alternative salad to serve to friends and family. Quinoa is a wonderful wheat-free alternative and the maple syrup will give your salad an extra zing. Serves 10 people. Serve on a bed of spinach leaves for an elegant finish.

Quiches are a summer favourite, hot or cold and our smoked salmon quiche will delight! This recipe is easy to make. Baking beans are easily available at cooking shops. Serves 4 people. Best enjoyed with a fresh green salad.
