January is traditionally a time for new beginnings, fresh starts and New Year’s resolutions.
While 2021 might not have gotten off to the best of starts, we know lots of you will be focused on staying happy and healthy more than ever before this year! And at Craigies, we are dedicated to helping you access only the most fresh, tasty and nutritious produce to support your healthy ambitions.
Local, field-fresh produce
At Craigies, you can truly see the journey of our produce from field to fork – we are very much a working farm, growing veg like broccoli, cauliflower, courgettes, leeks and carrots, as well as the soft fruit we are famed for!
Our produce is picked only at its ripest, so you know that you are getting the most vitamin-packed fruit and veg as possible! Not only that, our homegrown produce is more vibrant and often bigger (and better!) than what you can pick up on supermarket shelves. You also can be assured of no empty shelves at Craigies – because we grow our own or source locally wherever possible, you’ll always have access to our healthy produce.
Seasonality is also important to us at Craigies – what we stock changes throughout the year depending on what is growing out in the fields. Fruit and vegetables taste best, grow better and are at their peak nutritionally when they are in season, so it makes sense to pay attention to what’s in the fields year-round!
For example, in summer we have our strawberries, raspberries and beans, while in winter our apples, carrots and parsnips are in their prime. We actually have a blog all about the benefits of shopping and eating seasonally.
You can check out our handy veg box here, which changes with the seasons.
Fit as a butcher’s dog
We believe that top-quality butchery items can form part of a healthy and varied diet.
At Craigies you’ll find prime cuts of beef, lamb, poultry, pork and game from local suppliers we know personally, alongside a variety of quick and easy foods including stir-fries, stews and chicken parcels for when you are short on time. Plus, we also offer a variety of great value butchery packs – perfect for a weekend fry up, a summer BBQ or to see you through those midweek dinners!
Exceptional produce means exceptional flavours and the maximum nutritional value. Meat is incredibly nutrient dense, containing an excellent source of many nutrients, especially protein, B vitamins, iron and zinc. Quality can impact how nourishing your meat is, so make sure you only opt for the best-quality local produce – like you can find at Craigies!
