Apple & Bramble Crumble
Ingredients
For fruit filling
- 2 & 1/2 lbs cooking apples
- 1/2 lb brambles
- 30 g demerara sugar
- pinch ground cinnamon
For crumble topping
- 120 g plain flour
- 60 g caster sugar
- 60 g butter
- pinch salt
Alternative toppings – sub 50g flour for:
- 50 g rolled oats
- 50 g Stoats Pear and Almond Granola
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Peel and core apples – cut into chunks. Half the brambles if they are big. Add the sugar and cinnamon. Tip into an ovenproof dish.
- Sift flour with the salt into a bowl. Rub in the butter and when the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, mix in the sugar. Sprinkle mixture over the apples and brambles.
- Bake for 40 minutes until slightly browned on top.
- For extra sweetness crumble some homemade fudge over the top before serving with vanilla ice cream or double cream!
