Every year, we welcome thousands of you for a berry good time at Craigies, picking ripe and juicy fruit during our popular ‘pick your own’ (PYO) season, which is just around the corner!

Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, currants, blackcurrants, gooseberries and more are available to pick over the summer and enjoy at home or to stock up your freezers to make jam once the winter months set in!

You can visit our farm and pick your own fruit near Edinburgh in South Queensferry. Everything you need to know for a perfect day out with the family at PYO is in this blog…

How to get picking

Whether you are looking forward to picking our delicious berries in summer or spooky pumpkins in autumn, all you need to do is pre-book your entry vouchers.

When you arrive at the farm, show your entry voucher to one of our friendly staff and we’ll arm you with a basket and a map to guide you to the best field for your preferred fruit – then get picking! Once your basket is full, simply weigh and pay and we even take off the price of your entry voucher!

Keep an eye out on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages for updates on entry voucher availability, or sign up to our newsletter by scrolling to the bottom of our website to be the first to know. We release tickets as and when the fruit is ripe, so keep checking back for ticket releases!

Juicy dates for your diary

PYO season kicks off in mid-June with our juicy red strawberries that are ready to pick all the way through until October, followed by tasty raspberries from July until September.

That’s not all, from July through to August you can fill a full fruit bowl with cherries, currants, blackcurrants, and gooseberries! The little ones will love roaming the fields, foraging for fruit and they can take part in our jam making classes too – keep an eye on our social channels for more information!

If you have more of a savoury tooth then sweet, don’t worry – broad beans are ready to pick from July until August, with French beans and runner beans from August to September.

As the leaves begin to turn in September – sunflowers, peas and apples are ripe and ready to pick, then by October, crunchy apples are still available in the orchard and of course, it’s pumpkin season!

If you can’t make it along to PYO but would still love to taste our delicious fruit and veg, it is all available to pick up in our Farm Shop, or order it online for click and collect or have it delivered to your door!

Craigies Farm is open 7 days a week – make the most of your visit by dropping into Craigies Café, bring the little ones along to Little Farmers, or click & collect your online shop order.
