John’s Summer blog
It’s been an exciting time at Craigies Farm in June with the new adventure farm park Little Farmers opening up across from the Farm Shop and the reopening of our popular PYO fields for fruit picking. It’s been lovely seeing more families come out as well as our loyal Farm Shop and Café customers.
To keep everyone updated with all the seasonal ‘growings on’ around, here’s the latest ground report from Craigies Farm!
Early efforts bearing fruit!
Following all our hard work and preparations over the past few months, we’re now reaping the benefits with loads of fantastic fresh fruit and veggies popping up across the farm.
We have an abundance of delicious strawberries ripening for Craigies Farm Shop and PYO. Our raspberries are coming along nicely too and there will be plenty for picking and eating in July. We check our fruit supply every day and update both the farm shop stocks as well as alerting customers to when PYO entries are being opened.
You can buy your fresh soft fruits from the ‘bricks & mortar’ Farm Shop as well as the online shop here.

Veggie heaven
It’s veggie heaven round here with so much good farm-fresh produce being harvested and popped online and on the shelves of the farm shop. We’ve got lots of nutritious greens including broccoli, pointed cabbage, kale, sprouting broccoli and lettuce.
In the Craigies Veg Box just now you’ll find lots of fresh seasonal vegetables like Lettuce, Cabbage, Courgettes, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Tomatoes and Onions!

On the Animal farm
We’re really pleased to now have a mini animal farm at our adventure farm park Little Farmers that allows youngsters to safely ‘meet the animals’ at Craigies Farm. Ticket holders can meet the animals while level 2 restrictions are in place, and we will be running special farming events like farmer talks and animal grooming when we move down the levels in coming weeks!
We’ve now got a great family of pigs, sheep, Shetland ponies, a Clydesdale horse (Wendy) and pygmy goats. In the fields, you’ll spot our Highland Coos Iona and Skye who have settled in well since joining us last year.
Since my son George Sinclair returned to work full-time at the farm, he’s been overseeing the care of our animals and has been relishing the role. My daughter Sophie Sinclair is also a vital member of the team and is enjoying her new role at Little Farmers where she helps kids stay active and experience all the fun of farm life! Look out for George and Sophie on your next visit to Little Farmers and around Craigies Farm!
Cherry Blossom Picnics
It’s been challenging planning and delivering events throughout Covid but as these are a key part of the Craigies Farm experience, we have worked hard to maintain our fun activities. Our recent Cherry Blossom Picnics have gone really well (will be back next year!) and we were delighted to receive this customer comment:
“We booked this online and asked for a veggie picnic in the notes section. Got a call from Craigies to clarify. Picnic was collected and we were led down to the cherry trees which were in full bloom. All nicely laid out so it felt like each family were in a private picnic space.
“Lunch was delicious, loads to eat and enough for a doggy bag to take home. Staff all lovely as always. A typically lovely trip to Craigies, something we really missed during lockdown. I’ll definitely book again for next year and look forward to coming to pick the cherries from the same trees soon!” – A TripAdvisor review from a valued customer
Look forward to seeing you around Craigies Farm soon!
Best wishes
