Pick your own (PYO) has become a popular activity in Scotland for those who love the great outdoors and fresh, locally grown produce. It’s a fun activity for all ages, and there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of picking your own fruits and vegetables.
Looking for a fun activity to do with your family or friends this summer? Why not try picking your own fresh fruit and vegetables at Craigies Farm! It’s a great way to get outside and have a fun day out – with the added bonus of coming home with delicious, locally grown produce.
What is Pick Your Own?
Pick your own (PYO) is an activity allowing you to not only visit a farm but pick your own fresh fruit and vegetables right from the fields! It’s a wonderful way to support local farmers and get some fresh produce for your home, while enjoying a fun day out with friends, colleagues and loved ones.
How it works at Craigies Farm
Craigies Farm, located just outside Edinburgh in the South Queensferry countryside is a popular PYO destination during the summer months. We have a wide variety of fruits and vegetables available to pick, such as juicy strawberries, tart raspberries, sweet blackcurrants, tangy redcurrants – and as an exciting addition to PYO this year you can now pick blueberries!
Participating in PYO at Craigies Farm is easy peasy. All you have to do is book a slot during our opening hours, and we’ll provide you with baskets for picking, and guidance on which fields to visit and how to pick the fruit or vegetables. Once you’ve happily picked your fill, you can head to the PYO kiosk to pay for your produce, and take it home to enjoy.
If you’re looking to make a full day out of your PYO adventure, why not stop by Craigies cafe to refuel or continue the fun with our special Little Farmers ‘Pick & Play’ offer during PYO season? With Pick & Play tickets, children get 1.5 hours of play time at our Little Farmers adventure park and 1 hour of fruit picking in the fields. Your little ones will not only leave the farm full from their fresh picked fruit but also having had a ton of fun!
