Apple & Bramble Crumble
A mouth-watering dessert that is perfect for autumn, and only has 8 ingredients!
For fruit filling
- 2 & 1/2 lbs cooking apples
- 1/2 lb brambles
- 30 g demerara sugar
- pinch ground cinnamon
For crumble topping
- 120 g plain flour
- 60 g caster sugar
- 60 g butter
- pinch salt
Alternative toppings - sub 50g flour for:
- 50 g rolled oats
- 50 g Stoats Pear and Almond Granola
Preheat oven to 200°C.
Peel and core apples – cut into chunks. Half the brambles if they are big. Add the sugar and cinnamon. Tip into an ovenproof dish.
Sift flour with the salt into a bowl. Rub in the butter and when the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, mix in the sugar. Sprinkle mixture over the apples and brambles.
Bake for 40 minutes until slightly browned on top.
For extra sweetness crumble some homemade fudge over the top before serving with vanilla ice cream or double cream!
