Apple & Bramble Crumble

A mouth-watering dessert that is perfect for autumn, and only has 8 ingredients!
Servings 4


For fruit filling

  • 2 & 1/2 lbs cooking apples
  • 1/2 lb brambles
  • 30 g demerara sugar
  • pinch ground cinnamon

For crumble topping

  • 120 g plain flour
  • 60 g caster sugar
  • 60 g butter
  • pinch salt

Alternative toppings - sub 50g flour for:

  • 50 g rolled oats
  • 50 g Stoats Pear and Almond Granola


  • Preheat oven to 200°C.
  • Peel and core apples – cut into chunks. Half the brambles if they are big. Add the sugar and cinnamon. Tip into an ovenproof dish.
  • Sift flour with the salt into a bowl. Rub in the butter and when the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs, mix in the sugar. Sprinkle mixture over the apples and brambles.
  • Bake for 40 minutes until slightly browned on top.
  • For extra sweetness crumble some homemade fudge over the top before serving with vanilla ice cream or double cream!
