Edinburgh family farm plants seeds of hope by partnering with homeless charity Bethany Christian Trust! Craigie‚... more
One thing we take real pride in at Craigie's is ensuring that we work with small producers and suppliers who are largely based in Scotland and who have a similar ethos to us. This month, we speak to Ann of Brodies, a company that was established in 1867 and has been making tea for over 150 years!
A lot of you will have seen Brodies tea and coffee in the shop and as a lot of folk like to detox in January we think Brodies herbal infusions will be a big seller this month!
How does working with Craigie's support a company like Brodies?
It is hugely important to partner local businesses with the same ethos, passion and drive for quality that we have. Brodies do not sell to supermarkets, so working with independent retailers is our chosen avenue for showcasing the Brodies retail offering and brand.
If you were at point of sale in Craigie's what would you say to customers about your herbal infusions?
Brodies have been selecting and blending fine teas for 150 years, so we know what is needed to create a good cup of tea! Whether it be a punchy Breakfast tea with the malty flavour of Assam to awaken the senses or a calming Camomile to unwind with at the end of the day, our tag & envelope collection has a variety to suit.
Brodies is a well established company but what challenges (if any) have you faced developing your business in Scotland?
A challenge has been all the new artisan coffee roasters & tea blenders which are evolving in the marketplace, with this brings added competition. Conversely, we have just completed rebranding, with new packaging throughout the entire Brodies range, bringing a freshness both in products and also visually. Collectively this has strengthened the brand, with customers broadening their range of products with us and winning new business.
Sum up Brodies in a few words?
Established in Edinburgh in 1867 as tea merchants, Brodies are continually evolving, keeping us at the forefront of coffee roasting and tea blending. We also have to mention our award winning hand crafted chocolates collection, made here in Musselburgh by our chocolatiers to our bespoke recipes.
Thanks so much to Ann for spending the time speaking to us this month. If you'd like to find out more about Brodies Teas you can visit their website HERE.
