One thing we take real pride in at Craigie's is ensuring that we work with small producers and suppliers who are largely based in Scotland and who have a similar ethos to us. This month, we speak to Lucy of Cookie Pop Shop who is so local to Craigie's she can virtually walk her products to us!
A lot of you will have seen Lucy's cookies in the shop, they are so popular with everyone. She has recently introduced us to her cookie dough which you can keep at home in the fridge then bake cookies when you need them!
How does working with Craigie's support a company like Cookie Pop Shop?
Cookie Pop Shop is a small business based in South Queensferry. We are possibly one of the most local suppliers to Craigies'! We supply wholesale cookies to a few farm shops, delis and sweet shops in Scotland, but Craigie's seem to have the magic touch with regards to the farmyard cookies we make for them and they sell them super fast! Craigie's are really supportive and keen to try new things. They were so encouraging and very keen to order when we were launching our Edible Cookie Dough. It was great to be invited in store to promote the Edible Dough, hand out tasters and tell people all about it!
If you were at point of sale in Craigie's what would you say to customers about your cookies?
That they are made locally, almost within walking distance of Craigie's! The cookies are all completely handmade and hand iced. A lot of time and effort goes into the cookies to try to make them look and taste as good as possible. we love people to love the look and the taste of the cookies!
What challenges (if any) have you faced developing your business in Scotland?
The main challenge is keeping up with demand! Over the last year, more and more customers have been ordering for their shops, parties and events. We struggle with space and time but are committed to completing every order we get! If there were about another 7 days in the week then it would be great! It is excellent that Cookie Pop Shop has gained so much business through word of mouth and we want every customer to be able to order delicious handmade delights!
And finally, as Christmas is coming up are you doing anything special with your cookies/designs that people will be able to buy as gifts from Craigie's?
We will have a Christmas range of cookies and will be popping into the shop in November to do cookie decorating with children. They will have the opportunity to decorate and take home a biscuit bauble! We are also working on some yummy Christmassy Edible Cookie Dough flavours which will be available during the festive period."
Thanks so much to Lucy for spending the time speaking to us this month. If you'd like to find out more about Cookie Pop Shop you can visit her website HERE and look out for the cookie decorating class in store in December.
